Queen’s University School of Medicine Chapter, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, is renowned for its medical school, the Queen’s School of Medicine. The university is affiliated with several major hospitals, including Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), Hotel Dieu Hospital, Providence Care, and Brockville General Hospital. These affiliations provide students with access to a wide range of clinical experiences, from primary care to specialized surgery practices.

The Queen’s School of Medicine enrolls about 100 undergraduate medical students each year in its MD program, which currently has around 400 students. The robust residency program offers postgraduate training across various specialties and has more than 250 residents. Queen’s School of Medicine also has a strong research culture and provides opportunities for students and residents to engage in groundbreaking research initiatives alongside their clinical education training.

Chapter Inauguration Event: 24th March 2025

Lorna Larsen, President of Team Shan in Canada and Ambassador for the BCYW Foundation in the USA, and Jennie Dale, Co-Founder of Dense Breasts in Canada, discussed the challenges they faced in early breast cancer detection and their advocacy work to reduce barriers to cancer screening. The participants included medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals interested in cancer screening and patient advocacy.
