About the chapter

Western University, located in London, Ontario, is one of Canada’s foremost research-intensive institutions and a proud member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities. The university is home to more than 42,000 students from over 130 countries and is recognized among the top one percent of universities worldwide. Western offers exceptional academic and research programs through its twelve faculties, including the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, which together foster innovation, health advancement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Western maintains strong affiliations with leading healthcare and research institutions, including London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), St. Joseph’s Health Care London, and the Children’s Health Research Institute (CHRI). These partnerships provide extensive opportunities for clinical training, translational research, and community-focused health initiatives. The Western University Chapter of the Youth Council for Breast Health (YCBH) is a student-led organization dedicated to promoting breast health awareness, advancing health education, and fostering advocacy among university students and young adults. Through campus-wide outreach, educational initiatives, and collaboration with faculty mentors and healthcare professionals, the chapter seeks to empower the next generation of health advocates and contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding early detection and cancer prevention.
